Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has said goodbye to international cricket. Dhoni has announced his retirement through official social media.
Dhoni has already said goodbye to Test cricket. He shared a video, which featured Mukesh singing the song, ‘Main Pal Do Pal ka Shire hu,’ in the background. Dhoni has said goodbye to international cricket with this song.
He played his last international match in July last year. India had to face defeat against New Zealand in the semifinal of the 2019 World Cup, and that was Dhoni’s last international match.
Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains of Team India. He is the only captain in the world who has given the team three ICC Trophies under his captaincy. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India has won the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy titles.
Dhoni will however play the Indian Premier League. Dhoni is the captain of Chennai Super Kings and has reached Chennai to participate in a training camp for the 13th season of IPL.
Dhoni wrote on his Instagram, ‘Thank you for your love and support so far. Think me retired from 07:29 in the evening. A day before that he had reached Chennai to join the Chennai Super Kings team for the Indian Premier League to be held in the UAE.
